Book description

Grafting refers to a surgical procedure to move tissue from one site to another on the body, or from another creature, without bringing its own blood supply with in it. Instead, a new blood supply grows in after it is placed. The use and success of bone grafts in the medical field date from the beginning of the nineteenth century. In this regard, Albee in 1915 had depicted that there were successfully bone transplants in animal models, as well as in humans, since 1809 . Nowadays, bone graft implantation is the main treatment modality for bone defect repair and reconstruction. Bone graft materials can be divided broadly into autograft, allograft, xenograft, synthetic materials.
